## The short answer

Ladder puts you on a team led by a human coach who publishes a new seven-day plan each week — bodybuilding, HIIT, kettlebell, hybrid, or Pilates and yoga with strength — with in-ear coaching, on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and the web, and its site says the plans are not algorithm-generated. phase.fitness writes a program for you alone, from your days, equipment and logs, a phase of about four weeks at a time, across strength, cardio and calisthenics, and sends the sessions to Hevy, Liftosaur, Garmin or Intervals.icu.

## What Ladder is

A strength training app where each team follows a week of workouts written by a human coach, with in-ear coaching, on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and the web.

Every value below was read on Ladder's own site (https://www.joinladder.com) on 15 October 2026. "Not stated" means we could not find it on the pages we read, not that the product cannot do it.

- In-ear coaching during the session is what keeps you going.
- You train on iPhone and Apple Watch and do not need other apps in the loop.

## When phase.fitness is

- Running or cycling is part of the week, planned next to the lifting.
- You use Android, or log in Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is phase.fitness a Ladder alternative?

If you want a plan written for you alone, with endurance in it and the sessions landing in the apps you already use, yes. If you want a coach's week and a team doing it with you, Ladder is built around that, and phase.fitness is not.

### Is Ladder AI-generated?

No: its site says each team's plan is written by a human coach and is not algorithm-generated. phase.fitness takes the other route — it generates a periodized program from its knowledge base and rewrites it from your logs when each phase ends.

### What does Ladder cost?

Its pricing page lists $29.99 a month, or $179.99 a year, after a seven-day free trial, as of October 2026. phase.fitness is $34.90 every three months or $104.70 a year, with no monthly plan.
