# phase.fitness for Hevy users

> Hevy is where you log; it was never where you plan. phase.fitness writes the periodized program — phases, weekly set bands, RPE — into Hevy as routines, reads the workouts back, and builds the next phase from what you lifted.

## The short answer

phase.fitness connects to Hevy two-way: strength programs are written as Hevy routines in folders, with sets, reps, load percentages and RPE targets, and logged workouts return to phase.fitness with the sets you actually did. The phase.fitness exercise catalogue is Hevy's, so every exercise in a generated program is one Hevy already knows. Cardio sessions do not go to Hevy — they go to Garmin or Intervals.icu — and calisthenics runs in the phase.fitness player. When a phase ends, the AI reads the Hevy log and writes the next block. Hevy's API needs Hevy Pro.

## Can AI create Hevy routines for me?

phase.fitness does: a generated phase becomes a folder of Hevy routines with sets, reps, load percentages and RPE targets, built from Hevy's own exercise catalogue so every exercise is one Hevy already knows. Logged workouts come back with the sets you did, and the next block is written from them. Hevy's API needs Hevy Pro.

## How do you progress a Hevy routine from block to block?

From the log. When a phase ends, phase.fitness compares what was planned with what Hevy recorded, recomputes the estimated 1RMs from the logged sets, and writes the next block from them instead of copying the last one. Cardio from the same program goes to Garmin or Intervals.icu rather than Hevy.

## Your week, honestly

- **Hevy tracks; it does not plan.** Every routine is built by hand, and the long-term structure — blocks, deloads, progression — lives in your head or nowhere.
- **The next block is a copy of the last one.** With five more kilos on the bar and no reason for it beyond habit.
- **The exercise names never match.** A plan from anywhere else uses names Hevy does not have, and every import is a mapping exercise.

## What phase.fitness does about it

- **Routines written to Hevy** — A generated phase becomes a folder of Hevy routines with sets, reps, percentages and RPE; you open Hevy at the rack as always. (https://www.phase.fitness/integrations)
- **One catalogue, Hevy's** — phase.fitness generates from Hevy's exercise catalogue, so every exercise in a program is one Hevy already knows — no mapping, no unknown names.
- **Workouts come back** — Logged sets return to phase.fitness with load, reps and RPE, update the estimated 1RMs, and shape the next phase; within a phase, each week's targets are planned in advance.
- **The next phase from the log** — When a block ends, the AI compares what was planned with what Hevy recorded and writes the next block from it. (https://www.phase.fitness/ai-periodization)

## Programs to start from

- [Strength training program, periodized](https://www.phase.fitness/training-programs/strength-training-program) — phase.fitness writes strength as blocks with different jobs — volume, then intensity, then expression — with weekly set bands the plan is checked against and loads regulated by RPE, instead of the same 5×5 until it stops working.
- [Hypertrophy program built on volume landmarks](https://www.phase.fitness/training-programs/hypertrophy-program) — phase.fitness writes a hypertrophy block from the volume landmarks its generator reads: start each muscle near its minimum effective volume, climb toward the adaptive range across the block, and deload before the maximum recoverable volume becomes a problem.
- [Powerlifting program: accumulate, intensify, peak](https://www.phase.fitness/training-programs/powerlifting-program) — phase.fitness writes a powerlifting block from the document its generator reads: a volume phase at 65–80%, a strength phase at 75–90%, a peak at 85–100%, weekly sets per lift set by your experience, and every load regulated by RPE.
- [Push / pull / legs program, six days](https://www.phase.fitness/training-programs/push-pull-legs-program) — phase.fitness writes push/pull/legs as a six-day hypertrophy block: each muscle twice a week, volume climbing toward the adaptive range, and a deload that halves the sets at the same loads before a heavier week shows what the block bought.
- [Upper / lower split, four days](https://www.phase.fitness/training-programs/upper-lower-split-program) — phase.fitness writes upper/lower as the four-day split the frequency document recommends for intermediates: every muscle twice a week, a strength day and a hypertrophy day for each half, and two blocks — volume, then intensity — with a deload between them.

## The apps you already use

Hevy receives strength only. Cardio goes to Garmin or Intervals.icu instead, and calisthenics runs in the phase.fitness player — the same program, three destinations.

- **Hevy** — Strength routines are written to Hevy; logged workouts return to phase.fitness. Cardio and calisthenics do not travel here.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need Hevy Pro?

Yes. Hevy's API key is available on Hevy Pro; phase.fitness uses it to write routines and read workouts. phase.fitness's own free tier does not require a card.

### Will my Hevy history be used?

Yes. phase.fitness imports your workouts to build an athlete profile — the exercises you actually use, estimated 1RMs, the equipment you have access to — and uses it in every generation.

### Can I use Hevy and Liftosaur at the same time?

No. In phase.fitness they are mutually exclusive as strength destinations: you connect one or the other.

## The only app that plans strength, cardio and calisthenics together

For a Hevy user the calisthenics day is the session Hevy cannot hold — skill steps with holds and progressions — run in the phase.fitness player and counted in the same phase as the routines Hevy logs.

Right now, phase.fitness is the only training app that writes strength, cardio and calisthenics into one periodized program — same calendar, same phases, same recovery budget.

You choose the mix. A calisthenics-only plan, a cardio-only block, strength plus cardio, or all three: the phases, the end-of-phase analysis and the sync work the same way with one modality or three.

**Why calisthenics is in the plan.** Bodyweight skill work is strength training in a different shape. Straight-arm work, levers and handstands build scapular control, tendon capacity and relative strength that barbell and machine work leave untouched, and they transfer because they are closed-chain, whole-body patterns. Treated as a modality rather than a warm-up, they get sets, holds and progressions like a squat does.

No exercise catalogue on the market contains a tuck front lever, so those sessions run in the phase.fitness built-in player; strength goes to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch, cardio to Garmin and Intervals.icu.
