Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before signing up, answered without marketing.

What does phase.fitness actually do?
Phase writes training programs. You give it a goal, your schedule and your equipment, and it produces a periodized program divided into phases, with every session laid out on a calendar. It is a planner, not a tracker: you run the sessions in the app or watch you already use, and the results come back to Phase, which uses them to build the next phase.
Can one program contain strength, cardio and calisthenics together?
Yes, and that is the point of Phase. A single program can hold barbell and machine strength days, endurance sessions, and bodyweight skill work in the same week, ordered so they do not undo each other. Most planners cover one of the three and treat the others as an afterthought.
Which apps does phase.fitness sync with?
Two-way with Garmin, Hevy, Intervals.icu and Liftosaur: Phase sends the planned session out, and the completed session comes back. Strava is receive-only, so activities come in but nothing is pushed to it. Strength programs go to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch; endurance sessions go to Garmin and Intervals.icu.
Does phase.fitness push workouts to a Garmin watch?
Yes. Planned strength and cardio sessions are pushed to Garmin Connect and appear on the watch, so the workout is on your wrist without retyping it. Completed activities come back into Phase automatically.
How does the calisthenics side work?
You pick up to three skills — muscle-up, front lever, planche, handstand and others — and Phase places you on a progression after a short assessment, then programs sets, holds and volume like any other session. Calisthenics sessions run in a player built into Phase, because no exercise catalogue on the market contains skills like a tuck front lever: there is nothing to send them to.
What is periodization, and what does the AI do about it?
Periodization means training in blocks with different jobs — building a base, adding work, then peaking — instead of repeating the same week forever. Phase splits your program into phases of roughly four weeks. When a phase ends, the AI reads what you actually completed, the loads you hit and how you felt, and builds the next phase from it rather than from the plan on paper.
Is there a native iPhone or Android app?
No, and it is deliberate. Phase is a web app that installs from the browser as a PWA, with an icon on your home screen and offline access. You use Phase to plan and review, once or twice a week; the daily tapping happens in the tracker or on the watch. A native app would be a download to maintain for something you open weekly.
How much does phase.fitness cost?
PRO is $34.90 every three months, or $104.70 a year — twelve months for the price of nine. There is no monthly plan. There is a free tier with up to 3 programs, 10 routines and 5 AI generations a month.
Why is billing quarterly instead of monthly?
Because one month shows one training phase, and one phase is the part you could have written yourself. What Phase does that a template cannot is build phase two out of phase one, and phase three out of phase two. Three months is the shortest window in which that is visible, so it is the shortest subscription we sell.
What is included in PRO and what is free?
Free covers tracking, up to 3 programs and 10 routines, 5 AI generations a month, the full exercise library and bodyweight skill roadmaps. PRO adds AI programs periodized into phases, phase analysis, sync with Garmin, Hevy, Strava, Intervals.icu and Liftosaur, workouts pushed to your watch, the template library, progressive workload and wellness tracking, and unlimited programs and routines.
Can I start from an existing program instead of generating one?
Yes. The template library holds ready-made programs and single sessions that you can import into a phase, with your calendar rewritten around the change and no AI credits spent. You can also save your own programs as templates and publish them. The library is a PRO feature; browsing it is open to everyone.
What happens to my training data?
It stays yours. Phase reads your training data to build your programs; it does not sell it. The connections to Garmin, Hevy, Strava, Intervals.icu and Liftosaur are authorised by you and can be revoked at any time. A template you publish is shared without your absolute loads: other people see reps, percentages, RPE, tempo and rest, and your own copy keeps its numbers.

Still unsure?

The free tier does not expire and does not ask for a card. Build a program and see what comes out.
