Endurance & hybrid

phase.fitness for hybrid athletes

You train for two things at once and every app you own thinks you train for one. phase.fitness plans strength, cardio and calisthenics in the same week, orders the days so they add up, and rebuilds each phase from what you actually did.

The short answer

phase.fitness is a planner built for the hybrid week: it writes strength, cardio and calisthenics into one periodized program, applies the ordering rules from its hybrid document — hard days apart, the long session protected, one quality leading per block — and sends each session where you train it: lifts to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch, endurance to Garmin and Intervals.icu, skills to its own player. When a phase ends, the logs come back and the next phase is built from them, with Garmin activities only if you allow it.

What app plans lifting and running in the same program?

phase.fitness does: it writes strength, cardio and calisthenics into one periodized program, keeps hard days apart and the long session protected, and sends each session where you train it — lifts to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch, endurance to Garmin and Intervals.icu, skills to its own player. The planner and the trackers stay different apps, on purpose.

How do you stop running from ruining your lifts?

By letting one quality lead at a time. phase.fitness runs four weeks where strength progresses and endurance maintains, then swaps them, because trying to peak both in one block is what its hybrid document advises against. Inside each week, heavy lower-body work stays away from the hard runs and the long session gets the clean slot.

Your week, honestly

  • Two plans, one body.

A running plan and a lifting plan written separately land their hard days on top of each other, and you arrive at the session that mattered already tired. That is most of what gets called interference.

  • The long session always loses.

When the week gets tight the long run or ride is the first thing cut, because it is the longest — and it is the one building the base everything else stands on.

  • Nothing reads both logs.

Your runs live in one app, your lifts in another, and neither knows that the squat day is why the tempo run went badly.

What phase.fitness does about it

  • One program, three modalities

Strength, cardio and calisthenics days in the same phase, counted against the same recovery budget, with the day order decided by the plan.

  • Phases that lead

Four weeks with strength leading and endurance maintaining, then the swap — because trying to peak both in one block is how people peak at neither.

  • Two-way with your apps

Sessions go to Garmin, Hevy, Intervals.icu or Liftosaur; the completed ones come back, and the analysis reads them together — Garmin activities only if you allow it. The ones you finish in phase.fitness can also be posted to Strava.

  • The calendar rewrites itself

Change your days or skip a week and the schedule is rewritten from the first free week, keeping what already happened.

Frequently asked questions

Does phase.fitness replace my running app and my lifting app?

No. phase.fitness is a planner: it writes the sessions and sends them to Garmin, Hevy, Intervals.icu or Liftosaur, and reads the completed ones back. You keep the app you open at the gym and on the road.

How does phase.fitness decide the order of the week?

From the rules in the phase.fitness hybrid document: never two hard sessions of the same quality on consecutive days, no hard conditioning right before a heavy strength day, the long session in the clean slot, skill work fresh. It lays the week on the calendar with those applied.

Can I train for a race and keep my lifts?

Yes. phase.fitness alternates blocks where one quality leads and the other maintains, and holds strength at low volume and high intensity through an endurance build — the endurance document says dropping it costs economy.

The only app that plans strength, cardio and calisthenics together

For a hybrid athlete the calisthenics day is the third modality that fits between the other two: levers, holds and single-leg work that train what the barbell and the road leave out, at almost no cost to recovery.

Right now, phase.fitness is the only training app that writes strength, cardio and calisthenics into one periodized program — same calendar, same phases, same recovery budget.

You choose the mix. A calisthenics-only plan, a cardio-only block, strength plus cardio, or all three: the phases, the end-of-phase analysis and the sync work the same way with one modality or three.

Why calisthenics is in the plan

Bodyweight skill work is strength training in a different shape. Straight-arm work, levers and handstands build scapular control, tendon capacity and relative strength that barbell and machine work leave untouched, and they transfer because they are closed-chain, whole-body patterns. Treated as a modality rather than a warm-up, they get sets, holds and progressions like a squat does.

No exercise catalogue on the market contains a tuck front lever, so those sessions run in the phase.fitness built-in player; strength goes to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch, cardio to Garmin and Intervals.icu. How the skill work is programmed.
