Calisthenics and weights in one program

A front lever and a deadlift belong in the same program, and phase.fitness is the planner that puts them there: barbell days for the strength the skills stand on, skill days for what the barbell cannot train, one calendar and one recovery budget.

The short answer

A calisthenics and weights program in phase.fitness holds two or three barbell sessions and one or two skill sessions a week, planned together. The weights follow the strength document — main lifts at 3–5 × 3–6, weekly sets within the bands — and the skills follow the catalogue: up to three skills, each placed on its progression by an assessment, with one skill leading each session while the others get their current step as maintenance. The skill-sports rule orders the week: skill practice fresh and first, maximal strength after, heavy eccentric work away from the days with high skill volume. Lifts go to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch; skill sessions run in the phase.fitness player, and both count in the same phase.

The barbell builds what the skills stand on

The skill-sports document phase.fitness reads treats skill work as strength with an unusual shape: prerequisites, a productive volume and a volume that is just fatigue, and a dependence on being fresh. What it does not do well is load the legs or build the absolute pulling strength a one-arm chin-up or a muscle-up starts from — the climbing document's weighted pull-ups at 4–6 × 2–5 are the fastest road to that gate. So the barbell days carry squats, hinges and weighted pulls, and the skill days carry the levers, the presses and the holds.

The week is ordered by the document's rule: skills first, when the nervous system is fresh; maximal strength after; heavy eccentric and landing work kept away from days with high skill volume, because soreness degrades precision. phase.fitness applies that when it lays the calendar, and counts both kinds of session in the same phase.

Can you train calisthenics skills and lift weights in the same week?

That is what this program is: two or three barbell sessions and one or two skill sessions, planned together in one calendar rather than bolted on to each other. phase.fitness puts the skill work fresh and first, maximal strength after, and heavy eccentric work away from the high-skill days.

How do you keep one skill while working on another?

One skill leads each session and the others are held. In a phase.fitness program up to three skills can run at once: the leading one gets the full prescription of sets and holds, and the rest get their current step as maintenance, so nothing you already own goes backwards.

What phase.fitness builds

A program is a sequence of phases, each with a job. These are the phases phase.fitness writes for this case, with the bands the generator has to respect — transcribed from the document it reads, not invented for this page.

A sample week

One week from the first phase, as it would sit on the calendar. Your own week follows the days you say you have — 4–5 here — and the equipment you list.

How it adapts when a phase ends

phase.fitness reads the lifts from Hevy, Liftosaur or the watch and the skill sessions from its own player — the step, the hold seconds, the reps, the RPE. When a phase ends, the barbell side is rewritten from the estimated 1RMs the logs produced, and the skill side is checked against its standards and advanced or held per skill. If the skill days were the ones skipped when the week got tight, the next phase moves them to the days that survived; if the lifts stalled while the skills progressed, the plan trims lifting volume before it touches the holds.

What the AI does, and what it deliberately does not.

Where the sessions go

phase.fitness plans; you train in the app or on the watch you already use, and the completed session comes back. For this program:

Appphase.fitness sendsComes back
HevyStrength routines: sets, reps, load, RPELogged workouts, with the sets you did
LiftosaurPrograms, written as LiftoscriptHistory, planned versus completed reps
GarminStrength and cardio sessions, on the watchFinished activities, matched to the plan
CalisthenicsStays here, in the phase.fitness built-in player: no exercise catalogue out there contains a tuck front lever, so there is nothing to send it to.

What travels where, per modality and per app.

What phase.fitness does not do here

Two halves means two logs: the lifts go out to your tracker and come back; the skill sessions run only in the phase.fitness player, because no catalogue outside it contains a straddle planche. Both count in the phase, and the analysis reads both.

Frequently asked questions

How many skills can I train at once?

Up to three in phase.fitness. Each skill leads one session in rotation while the others receive their current step as maintenance, so three goals do not become three programs fighting for the same week.

Should skill work come before or after lifting?

Before, and preferably on its own day: the skill-sports document phase.fitness reads puts skill practice first when the nervous system is fresh, maximal strength after, and heavy eccentric work away from days with high skill volume.

Do the skill sessions sync to Hevy?

No. They run in the phase.fitness built-in player with the hold timer and the progression step on screen, because Hevy's catalogue has no tuck front lever to send. The barbell sessions sync as usual, and both count in the same phase.

The only app that plans strength, cardio and calisthenics together

Here the calisthenics day is half the program: levers, handstands and presses programmed with steps and holds, next to the barbell days that build the legs and the pulling strength the skills start from.

Right now, phase.fitness is the only training app that writes strength, cardio and calisthenics into one periodized program — same calendar, same phases, same recovery budget.

You choose the mix. A calisthenics-only plan, a cardio-only block, strength plus cardio, or all three: the phases, the end-of-phase analysis and the sync work the same way with one modality or three.

Why calisthenics is in the plan

Bodyweight skill work is strength training in a different shape. Straight-arm work, levers and handstands build scapular control, tendon capacity and relative strength that barbell and machine work leave untouched, and they transfer because they are closed-chain, whole-body patterns. Treated as a modality rather than a warm-up, they get sets, holds and progressions like a squat does.

No exercise catalogue on the market contains a tuck front lever, so those sessions run in the phase.fitness built-in player; strength goes to Hevy, Liftosaur or a Garmin watch, cardio to Garmin and Intervals.icu. How the skill work is programmed.
